If you’re reading this blog it means you most likely have a boudoir session coming up soon. Yay! I’m so excited for you to experience the magic of boudoir and can’t wait for you to see your finished gallery. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Before we can gush over your gorgeous photos, there are few things you should know about preparing for your session. So I’ve gathered up and broken down my 5 best tips to prep for your shoot. Check them out below.
The number one rule of selecting an outfit for your boudoir session is…there are NO rules! My recommendation is to start with what you have. So many women book a shoot and immediately run out to shop for lingerie, but you probably have what you need right at home! Dig all the way to the back of your panty drawer and I bet you’ll be surprised to find a cute set you bought years ago and forgot all about. Pair that with your best pumps and some beautiful jewelry and you’ve got your first outfit! Make sure to bring at least 3 options, but more is always better. And if you’re stressed about finding the perfect outfit, don’t be! You’ll have full access to my client closet full of sexy lingerie.
I get it, you’re already making a big investment in the session itself, but if you can swing a manicure and pedicure the day before your session, I say go for it! Your hands and even your feet will be highly visible in some of the poses we’ll try out and believe it or not, the little details like your nails can make or break a photo. Plus, your boudoir session is all about pampering yourself, so why not get started early?
This is so important! I understand the urge to wait until the day before our session for a wax so that no stubborn hairs have time to grow back, but please please PLEASE give yourself a few days. You just never know if this will be the time your skin has a reaction and while I can work wonders with my professional photo editor, you just won’t feel as confident if your skin is red and irritated.
Push those nerves to the side and do everything you can to get a restful night of sleep before your session. If you’re tired, you won’t be feeling your best and that will translate in your gallery. So get to bed early and dream of how amazing you’ll look during your session!
I recommend drinking plenty of water not just the day of, but the entire week before our shoot. A well-hydrated body leads to beautiful moisturized skin and that glow will really shine through in your photos and will prevent you from feeling bloated. Also try to skip alcohol and avoid too much salt the night before we meet as these can deplete your skin of vital nutrients and make it look dry. And trust me, with how much skin you’ll be showing, you’ll definitely want it looking good.
When it comes to what to eat on the day of your shoot, stick to healthy snacks that will provide lots of energy such as fruits, veggies, and proteins. As much as I love carbs, stay away from them on the day of your shoot. You can reward yourself with pasta and cookies when you’re done looking sexy for your session.
There you go! With these 5 tips, you’re ready to rock your boudoir session and walk away with some sexy images. And if you’ve made it this far and haven’t booked a shoot yet, what are you waiting for? Availability is going fast, so contact me to get on my schedule today.
